“This image has a lovely nostalgic mood to it. The grainy quality and colour palette gives it a timeless quality; we don’t know anything about the girl, her age (the crop takes away our usual means of making an assessment) or her wider environment (we don’t even get any clues from the reflections in the water), nor when this was likely shot, but what we do know is there is an emotional release that comes from her as she runs seemingly carefree through the water. It is a joyful picture providing a memory of a fleeting moment.”
Zoe Whishaw
Zoe is an expert in the visual language of photography for commercial and editorial use. She worked at Getty Images for 17 years from its earliest beginnings through to it becoming the global media content agency that it is today. She was the European Director of Photography and a consultant for several other leading independent photo agencies before becoming a mentor to photographers.
Zoe has judged numerous photographic awards, including Association of Photographers Awards, London Photo Festival, and Wildlife Photographer of the Year and regularly conducts portfolio reviews.
