Special Guest Feature: Simon Roberts
"I am totally enamoured by this photograph.
Lara has created a wonderful still life with the simplest of objects: a glass and an apple. Yet, every time a look at this image something new is revealed: whether it’s the play of light, the shapes created by the shadows that ripple across the frame, the texture of the apple (which almost matches the wooden table-top surface), or the curious composition created by the plethora of lines and circular shapes. The apple almost seems to be falling out of the empty glass!
Over the past few months of lockdown I’ve been thinking a lot about making photographs in a domestic setting, trying to tune my eye into the mundane scenes that surround me. As yet, I’ve not managed to make a photograph as captivating as Lara’s.”
