What Do You See?

How is it possible that a photo that doesn’t have anything recognisable in it can stir up so much emotion? ⁣ ⁣

Although I appreciate all the various styles and approaches to photography this one just gets to me - it’s completely free of any material form, there are no objects of value or any sort of hierarchy in it. ⁣ ⁣

There is no physical beauty or human achievement, not even breathtaking nature. God (and Florence!) knows what’s in this image and how it was captured! I’m not even curious - I’m getting everything I need from the photo itself.⁣

Learner’s Tip 📸⁣

This image is like one of those Rorschach inkblot psychological tests where what you see in an abstraction reveals a lot about your mental state and psyche. Well, there goes mine: I see facial features, bold movement. And also lots of space in between to move freely in. And what about you?⁣

Take the time to explore what this image might be saying to you. Allowing yourself to really stay with it and look will inevitably affect the way you see things around you and will enrich your photography.⁣

Thank you Florence - I really enjoyed this one!⁣
