There is a lot of talk about meditation and quieting the mind - all wonderful and important concepts but I somehow feel the answer is even closer and simpler.

Immersing yourself in what truly inspires and uplifts you, losing yourself utterly and completely, even if for a few moments, dissolving in the experience and becoming one with whatever you are looking at - what is that if not a powerful form of meditation itself? Photography is one of the doors to this freeing state of quiet awareness and a peaceful mind, sought by so many, and it’s our privilege as photographers to be able to share it through our work.

Learner’s Tip 📸

You will never run out of creative ideas and things to photograph if you consider this: In the world of the photographer’s meditation there is no hierarchy and no one thing more beautiful than another, as everything is equal and equally full of hidden richness and power waiting to be discovered.

Have a read of the behind the scenes story of this meditative photo:

Iceland or Mars? During our road trip in Iceland, we visited an area in the northeastern part of the country with strong geothermic activity, fumaroles, and even mud pots. No matter where you went in this area, constantly you could hear the boiling mud and smell the stink of rotten eggs (hydrogen sulphide). Incredible to experience the powerful forces of nature!
