An Inner Universe
We often have no idea what someone is dealing with and what their inner experience is like. Every person carries their own universe inside them and it’s really a privilege to be allowed in and to get a glimpse of it.
I’m loving the anonymity of Jack’s image, how it’s free from identity and is more about the gentle embrace than about who’s doing the holding.
It could be read as ever so slightly romantic but to me it’s more about vulnerability, tenderness and care expressed more broadly.
And what great harmony of all the tones from the flowers, to the background and the lip colour echoing each other - even the spots are perfect and accentuate sometimes genuine about this photo.
Learner’s Tip 📸
Caring about people and genuinely trying to understand them will have a huge impact on your photography. It will help you establish a connection and achieve powerful portraits which are about so much more than identity of one individual or their appearancee, no matter how appealing, elegant or aesthetically pleasing. And as Jack illustrates beautifully, the face doesn’t even have to be fully revealed.
