Photographing Time
As our regular contributor, Miki tends to bring out a bit of a poet and a philosopher in me and here is what he inspired me to contemplate today:
We might think we are photographing objects, but actually it’s objects in time, or even time itself.
Think about it: just a few seconds, minutes or hours can completely change the way something appears. We are capturing that very unique moment, sharing it, living through it together with whatever we are photographing. And when this moment is gone, it’s gone forever. ⠀⠀
Something (or someone...) that always seems to be there, a given part of a decor, a mere background setting of our life will be gone in time. Yet we can treasure it now simply by seeing it...⠀⠀
This is how photography can teach us appreciation - to see and be grateful for every moment and every encounter.
Learner’s Tip 📸
Notice how thanks to Miki’s perspective, composition and deep colours, this is no longer just a flat photo on our phone, but an invitation and a window into a rich, three-dimensional enchanted forest, the path to which is laid with precious gems.
